<description>&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hillary Clinton has addressed the Democratic convention in Denver and has called on the party to unite behind Barack Obama.  She set out her view of an Obama presidency and paid tribute to Mr Obama's wife Michelle.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tonight it's the turn of Bill Clinton to speak to the convention to be followed by Barack Obama's choice for vice president Joe Biden.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Watch those speeches live on Sky News TV from midnight tonight.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our team in Denver is led by presenter Jeremy Thompson with Political Editor Adam Boulton and analyst Jon Christopher Bua.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Foreign secretary David Miliband flies to Ukraine today as he aims to build what he calls a 'coalition against Russian aggression'.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He'll deliver a major speech condemning Russia's decision to recognise two breakaway regions of Georgia. We will carry that speech live at 12.15pm. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Scotland welcomes its Olympic medal heroes today with an open top bus parade in Edinburgh. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There will be a news conference at 11.45am which we will broadcast live.  And then at 1.30pm we will be live for the 30 minute parade which will end at Holyrood Palace. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thousands of people could be saved from going blind after the government's drugs rationing body overturned a decision to allow the drug Lucentis to be made available on th NHS.  We will have expert guests through the day to discuss the impications of that decision. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Click on to Sky News website for all the day's breaking news stories and analysis. &lt;p /&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There will be updates later today on the investigation into a plot to kill Barack Obama during the Democratic Convention in Denver.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Three men have been arrested after officers found rifles, a bullet proof vest and walkie talkies in a suspect's car.  It's said the suspects did not pose a 'creditable threat' but security around Mr Obama will be increased.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our team in Denver - Political editor Adam Boulton, presenter Jeremy Thompson and US correspondents Robert Nisbet and Michelle Clifford - will stay across the story through the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have also been getting reaction to the speech at the convention by Barack Obama's wife Michelle who spoke of family values and her family's patriotism and how Obama would make an "extraodinary president". &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our team will bring full coverage from Denver of the Democratinc conventiion all week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ryanair have been criticised after a flight, packed with British holidaymakers, was forced to land at a French airport.  Passengers flying on the plane from Bristol to Barcelona said Ryanair cabin staff did not give any information about the emergency and were left terrified by the ordeal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some of the British gold medal winners will be feted by their home towns today. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Swimmer Rebecca Adlington will be in an open top bus parade through her home town of Mansfield this evening. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She'll hold a news conference at 5.15pm and then the bus departs at 6.30pm. We will be with her live on Sky News. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And Welsh Olympic heroes will be paraded through Cardiff. We'll be there too.&lt;p /&gt;&lt;p /&gt;&lt;p /&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gary Glitter has finally arrived back in Britain. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He flew into Heathrow airport just after 7am and will appear before magistrates at nearby Uxbridge at 10am where he will be required to sign the child sex offenders register. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our reporter Mark Stone will be live at Uxbridge to report on Glitter's appearance. It's understood that Glitter will then go to one of his homes he owns in London.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gordon Brown has arrived in Beijing to meet British athletes and attend the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday. Our chief political correspondent Jon Craig is with the PM and will follow his visit through the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our Olympic reporting team - Ian Dovaston, Chris Skudder and Peter Sharp - will be across the day's Olympic news including our latest gold medal success today in kayaking.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;US Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama may name his running mate today in his bid for the White House. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr Obama will also hold a town hall meeting in Virginia at 3.30pm today. We will be there live in case it's where he names the person he wants as his potential Vice-President.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sky News is running a special day of coverage today looking at safety on Britain's roads. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;* We are live with an air ambulance paramedic team in the Midlands who are often first to arrive at the scenes of serious road accidents. Correspondent Darren Little will be with them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;* We have exclusive access to the Metropolitan police's accident reaction car in London.
