Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on fidelity:
Anna Botting: You are quoted as having said you are bored with monogamy…
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: I never tasted monogamy before getting married
Anna Botting: Is that true?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: Well I was never married, so I think monogamy has to do with marriage, right?
Anna Botting: I was just wondering if Nicholas Sarkozy is a keeper as we say in Britain, is he for keeps?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: What is for keeps?
Anna Botting: Is he forever?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: (...long pause) ah...I guess marriage should be forever but, um, who knows what happens. I wish it was forever, you know, that's my hope ...but we could be dead (she clicks her fingers) tomorrow
Anna Botting: Do you trust him?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: Oh yes - very much
Anna Botting: I mean the rumours are he had many affairs in the past - but you trust him....?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: Oh yes - very much. He would never have affairs ....and have you ever seen a picture of him having an affair? Ah...so!
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on being in the public eye:
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: I must say that maybe 99 percent of things that people are saying are wrong
Anna Botting: About you?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: Yeah, yeah
Anna Botting: How do you cope with that?
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: I don't listen to...I don't really hear it....it's other people from outside like you now, that are telling me sometimes....but it was always like that, even before my marriage...maybe because I never go out and I never see anyone, so of course maybe, um, some people invent I guess, I don't really care, I don't really, um, pay attention to it I must say
