Michelle May
Michelle May became a member of the Sky News North of England reporting team in late 2003. Over seven years Michelle has covered major stories including the drowning of 21 Chinese cockle pickers at Morecombe Bay, the murder of 15 year old Jessie James and the 2009 Cumbria floods.
One of Michelle’s biggest successes for Sky was her confirmation of the dramatic arrest of quadruple murder suspect Mark Hobson, several hours ahead of the other rolling news channels. The coup prompted MediaGuardian to write an article headlined ‘Sky beats rivals over Hobson swoop’.
Michelle joined Sky News from Granada Television in Manchester where she was senior reporter. She spent five years with Granada, during which time she covered most of the major stories in the north west of England. In 2002 she was nominated as RTS Regional Reporter of the Year.
Both a graduate and postgraduate of broadcast journalism at Cardiff University, Michelle has worked for HTV, BBC Wales, Channel One, and ITV News Channel.
