Lisa Dowd

Lisa is a familiar face in the Midlands and has reported on a wide range of high profile stories.

She has covered the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the murder of Lindsay Ann Hawker in Japan, the summer floods of 2007,  Britain’s recent big freeze in winter 2010 and the hunt for Raoul Moat in Rothbury.

Her role means she sees first hand the changing face of industry in the Midlands - reporting on the aftermath of the collapse of MG Rover, the closure of Peugeot in Coventry, the demise of van maker LDV in Birmingham and the future of Cadbury in Bournville.

Lisa recently had to tactfully cover the MPs’ expenses scandal – it fell to her to reveal the details of Jacqui Smith’s claims that included pornographic films!

Lisa graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2001 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She began her reporting career in radio, before moving to ITV Central in Birmingham. She joined the Sky News Midlands bureau in 2005.

Lisa grew up in the tiny village of Ilam in the Peak District and went to secondary school in nearby Ashbourne, Derbyshire. She now lives in Birmingham with her husband. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, swimming, eating out, watching period dramas and reading history books!
